2005-2006
In conjunction with the Multicultural Student Services Center, Remix hosted Mixed Race Awareness Week in March. Some of the events included:
"Choosing Sides"- a panel discussion featuring student and faculty panelists who talked about the issues surrounding the mixed race community.
"Little Known Facts"- a tabling event that helped to promote mixed race awareness in the GW community.
"Taste My World"- an event highlighting and celebrating the diversity of different cultures through the tasting of unique foods.
"Chasing Daybreak"- Remix showed the critically acclaimed document about mixed race in America and facilitated discussion about it.
2006-2007
In conjunction with the Multicultural Student Services Center, Remix hosted Mixed Race Awareness Month in November. Some of the events included:
"Did You Know?"- a tabling event that sought to educate GW students by presenting unique and interesting facts about individuals of mixed race.
"Mixed Expressions"- a spoken word event that featured GW students who shared thoughts on mixed race awareness through poetry.
"Caught in the Mix"- a panel discussion that included a GW professor Michael Wenger, professor of sociology, Student Association President Lamar Thorpe, President of OLAS Priscilla Monico, Nasreen Mustafa, an MSA E-board member, and Brandon Porter, founder and former president of Remix.
"Kukuwa Dance Workshop"- a mixture of Latin, Caribbean, and African dance performed by GW students under the guidance of Kukuwa Nuamah. The dance workshop also featured a live drummer. http://www.kukuwadanceworkout.com/biography.html
"Multiracial Heritage Appreciation Dinner"- served as the culmination of Mixed Race Awareness Month. Students enjoyed a meal consisting of various cultural foods and had open discussions about the importance of mixed race awareness.
In conjunction with the Office of Community Service, Remix participated in Kidsfest
